Les pronoms relatifs : who, which, that

PronomPourExemple
wholes personnesThe woman who lives next door is a teacher.
whichles choses, les animauxThe book which I bought is great.
thatpersonnes ou choses (plus courant à l’oral)The film that we saw was boring.
whosepossession (« dont le »)The man whose car was stolen called the police.
whereles lieuxThe town where I grew up.

À éviter : The man which I met is Irish.

Correct : The man who I met is Irish.= L’homme que j’ai rencontré est irlandais.

The book (that) I’m reading is great.

The woman who lives next door…

Les virgules changent tout

Entre virgules, l’information est en plus, et on n’utilise pas that : My brother, who lives in Toronto, is coming.

À vous de jouer

Réponses : who (ou that) · where · whose
